Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) in Chile published a press release on July 2, 2026, announcing the modification of the technical standard for Fixed Satellite Services (FSS), which includes the incorporation of new frequency bands to improve connectivity. Previously, the Ku and Ka bands were the only bands considered for FSS. The technical standard is expanding to include the W band and the V band .
