On 3rd July 2026, the Communications Commission of Tonga (CCT) was officially established, with regulatory functions formerly under the communication and information department formally transferred to CCT.
Effective from 1st July 2026, CCT has assumed independent responsibility for telecommunications equipment Type Approval, radio spectrum management, telecommunications licensing, and other related regulatory matters.
