[Korea] Korea Clarifies KC EMC Conformity Assessment Applicability for Home Network Terminals

On 26 June 2026, Korea’s National Radio Research Agency (RRA) issued Notification No. 2026-2, amending the Notification on Conformity Assessment of Broadcasting and Communication Equipment to clarify the applicability of the KC EMC Conformity Assessment to Home Network Terminals.

Under the amendment, Home Network Terminals, including wall-mounted smart home control panels, have been added to the list of representative products under Information Technology Terminal Equipment. This category is a subcategory of Multimedia Equipment and is already subject to Korea’s KC EMC Conformity Assessment requirements.

Information Technology Terminal Equipment refers to equipment that performs independent information-processing functions and can be used either independently or by connecting to a computer through a network or wired connection.

Before the amendment, representative products under this category included display control terminals, POS terminals, barcode scanners, electronic calculating terminals, copiers, including multifunction printers, and multi-card readers. By adding Home Network Terminals to the representative product list, the RRA has further clarified that products such as wall-mounted control panels fall within the existing Information Technology Terminal Equipment category and must undergo the applicable KC EMC conformity assessment procedures.

This amendment does not introduce any new KC EMC conformity assessment requirements or expand existing certification obligations. Rather, it clarifies the classification and regulatory applicability of Home Network Terminals by explicitly identifying them as representative products within the existing Information Technology Terminal Equipment category.
