Australia will mandate the AS/CA S042:2025 series of standards from 30 June 2026, replacing the current S042:2022 version. The updated standards introduce a requirement for cellular devices to support NMS emergency cell broadcast, add LTE Bands 26, 255 and 256, as well as 5G NR band n26, and remove the previous 3G-related requirements.
The 2025 standards provide a 12-month transition period, during which equipment may be tested or assessed against either the 2022 or 2025 versions.
Relevant product manufacturers and exporters should complete the necessary certification updates during the transition period to ensure continued compliance with Australian market requirements and reduce subsequent compliance risks.
