[India] India BIS Revises Scheme-II Certificate Validity and License Continuation Requirements

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) published an update on May 27, 2026, revising the provisions on certificate validity and license continuation under Scheme-II.

Under the revision, the validity period for newly issued Scheme-II certificates has been extended from 2 years to 5 years. Renewals will also be granted for 5 years. Annual fees are required to be paid each year, and renewal fees must also be paid in advance annually.

Failure to pay the annual fees by the due date, or late submission of the required production reports, may result in suspension, deferment, cancellation, and/or expiry of the license.
