Due to the war in Yemen, two governments currently exist in Yemen：Sana’a and Aden. Each of these regions has their respective Telecommunications and Information Technology (MTIT) authority, which is responsible for issuing type approval certificates.
MTIT Sana’a has traditionally issued mandatory type approval certificates regardless of whether products were in Sana’a or Aden.
In early 2026, MTIT Aden began the process of issuing voluntary type approval certificates, however they may become mandatory in the future.
There is no mutual recognition between MTIT Sana’a and MTIT Aden at this time, so obtaining separate certificates from each authority will be necessary for full regulatory compliance in Yemen.
