the Gazette Notification dated 29 October 2025, issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), regarding migration to the new standard IS/IEC 62368 : Part 1 : 2023.
This notification officially replaces IS 13252 : Part 1 : 2010 and IS 616 : 2017 under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021.

supersedes IS 13252 (Part 1): 2010 and IS 616:2017. - New Product Category Added:
Extended Reality Products (AR, VR, MR, etc.) have been added to the CRS Schedule under this standard. - Concurrent Running Periods:
- For Extended Reality Products: Dual operation of old and new standards allowed until 1 May 2026.
- For all other products: Concurrent operation permitted until 1 November 2028, after which IS 13252 and IS 616 will be withdrawn.
BIS will soon update the CRS portal and issue detailed guidelines for changeover and migration, which we shall notify immediately upon publication by the Registration Department.
