On 11 July 2025, the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) announced the implementation of a new Type Approval Online System to replace the existing one. Effective from 25 July 2025, no Type Approval certificates—including corrections—will be issued through the old system. All applications must be submitted via the new system going forward. Subsequently, on 15 September 2025, BOCRA officially launched the new Type Approval Online System. All new applications must now be submitted through this online platform, and it is mandatory to provide a local Repair Services Provider in Botswana as part of the approval process.
