[Eswatini] to Phase Out 2G and 3G Mobile Networks

On June 17, 2025, the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) officially announced a phased plan to retire 2G and 3G mobile network technologies.

The key points of the announcement are as follows:

 

1. Import and Type Approval Restrictions

Starting from November 30, 2025, the importation and type approval of mobile devices that

support only 2G or only 3G technologies will be prohibited.

 

2. 2G Network Shutdown Timeline

2G networks will be shut down by December 31, 2028.

 

3. 3G Network Shutdown Timeline

3G networks will be shut down by December 31, 2030.
