Mexico’s Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT) has recently introduced a new technical regulation, IFT-016-2024, which defines the specifications, limitations, and testing procedures for low-power radio communication devices operating in the 30 MHz to 3 GHz frequency range.
This regulation applies to various low-power devices, including:
- General low-power transmitters (non-specific short-range devices)
- IoT (Internet of Things) devices
- Wireless microphones
- Hearing aids
- Wireless alarm systems
By establishing operating restrictions, emission limits, and testing methodologies, IFT-016-2024 ensures that these devices comply with strict technical standards to minimize interference with other authorized communication services.
