[Korea] New KC Regulations & Certification Requirements for USB Type-C

The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of South Korea announced on November 8, 2024, the Notice No. 2024-1028, which establishes the “Technical Standards for Charging and Charging Data Transmission Methods of Mobile and Smart Devices” under Article 46 of the Administrative Procedures Act.

According to the announcement, if a regulated product uses a USB Type-C interface, the USB Type-C interface must comply with and complete Korea’s EMC SDoC before the final product can obtain KC-EMC certification.

This regulation will come into effect on February 14, 2025, while the implementation date for laptops is set for April 1, 2026.
