On December 17, 2024, the Chilean Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (SUBTEL) issued a new law (Law No. 21.720) prohibiting the manufacture, sale, purchase, export, use, possession, and carrying of any electronic devices capable of intercepting, interfering with, or disrupting telecommunication signals. This includes signal jammers, communication interceptors, and devices designed to hack or manipulate signals. Violators will be subject to penalties. The law mandates the development of detailed regulations within six months, which will take effect three months after their official publication. Exceptions for use will only be granted under specific conditions or to security-related entities with special authorization. The regulation will come into effect three months after the its publication.
