[Thailand] New Technical Standard for Digital Broadcasting Radio Receivers

On October 31, 2024, Thailand’s NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) announced the introduction of a new technical standard for Digital Broadcasting Radio Receivers, identified as NBTC BS 3004-2567.

  • For digital broadcasting radio receivers in new vehicles: October 31, 2025
  • For all other digital broadcasting radio receivers: February 28, 2025

Key Requirements:

  1. Traditional FM/AM Receivers:
    • FM/AM-only receivers do not require approval, both now and after the regulation is in effect.
  2. FM/AM/DAB Receivers:
    • These devices will require NBTC Sdoc (Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity) after the regulation is effective.
  3. Conformity Assessment for Digital Receivers:
    • Test reports from overseas laboratories (accredited or non-accredited) are accepted, without the need for local testing or samples.

3.2      Key Specifics:

  • Devices must support Thai Profile to display information in the Thai language.
  • A Thai-language user manual is mandatory (an additional English manual is optional).
  • Test reports must address all requirements outlined in the NBTC technical standard.
