The Ministerio de Economía, Fomento y Turismo in Chile published Ley 21695 on October 10, 2024, which establishes a universal charger for various mobile phones and IT devices. According to this new Law, those that sell mobile devices must offer consumers chargers that may be purchased separately and are not mandatory to be purchased together. Additionally, sellers must inform consumers whether a charger is included with the purchase of the mobile device. A grace period of 2 years will be established for cell phones to be marketed according to the new regulations, and a 4 year grace period will be established for other mobile devices.
