The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) in Hong Kong issued a press release on August 2, 2024, announcing that it granted consent to Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited to no longer offer 2G service plans as of November 8, 2024. HKT now joins 2 other providers that have ceased 2G services in Hong Kong. Those who use 2G services in Hong Kong are advised to consider upgrading to higher generation devices.
