The Oman Telecommunications Regulatory Authority issued an amendment of the Regulations for the Organization and Accreditation of Communications Devices on its Official Gazette. The most relevant changes on this regulation are:
- Amendment of the Type Approval certificate validity period to four (4) years. This validity period applies also to TA certificates issued before the implementation of this decision, starting to count its new validity period since the date that the certificate was issued. The same validity period is applicable to renewals. Renewals must be requested to the Authority before the expiration of the certificate and after payment of the relevant fees; otherwise, the certificate will not be considered as valid anymore.
- It is mandatory to submit an amendment request to the Authority for any already issued TA certificate when:
- Factory location has changed.
- Brand name or model name has changed but not changes related to device’s nature.
- A new feature is added to the device that does not affect the device original appearance and nature.
- New guidelines for device marking with new label requirements and design.
- Amending TA fees for issuing TA certificates and TA renewal certificates.
The changes are set to take effect on August 21, 2024.
