ANATEL in Brazil issued Resolution 715 that became effective at the end of April 2020.
Resolution 715 is the updated main regulation that provides guidance to the ANATEL certification/homologation process in Brazil. With the enforcement of Res. 715, ANATEL has issued the following three temporary Acts with the goal of providing specific/complementary rules in addition to the general guidelines contained in Res. 715:
Acts 2220:
- Categories I, II and III are abolished. Devices subject to ANATEL approval will now be organized by family (not by category)
- There are 3 types of schemes of certification:
- Type 1: with local tests and no renewal required
- Type 4: with local tests and with renewal
- Type 5: with local tests, with renewal and with factory audit process
Acts 2221:
- E-Label is acceptable
- ANATEL symbol (logo) is now optional in the marking, so it is up to the manufacturer to use it or not. It is possible to use the simplified marking (ANATEL: HHHHH-AA-FFFFF) for all devices, not only for the small size like before;
- Label must be added to the product prior to the entry of the device in Brazil
Act 2222
- Provides the list of devices that are subject to ANATEL approval and the applicable certification scheme (with or without renewal and with/without factory audit/ISO). This is organized by family and, again, categories I, II and III were removed.
