[Malaysia] Updated information on radio frequency identification equipment (RFID) certification requirements

In Malaysia, as the adjacent frequency is utilized by the mobile network, RFID that do not strictly follow Malaysia frequency range assignment has caused interference to the local network as well as other customer premise equipment (CPE).

As such, to minimize the risks of interference and mitigate the problem at source, it is compulsory for all applicants to undertake the following actions:

– RFID shall adhere to the technical requirements specified in the Technical Code MCMC MTSFB TC T007 “Specification for Short Range Devices (SRD)”;

Applicant shall set the frequency range for Malaysia as default frequency setting for all existing and new RFID;

– Applicant shall indicate the frequency range for Malaysia on product specifications, user manual and product brochure. All documents submitted for certification and for distribution to consumer or buyer shall reflect this.

The detailed information of above actions is available in attached Addendum II of Certification Requirement for Communication, Multimedia and Hybrid Equipment.

The Certificate of Conformity shall be suspended and/or cancelled; and recall activity from the market shall be imposed if a Certificate Holder fails to comply with the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 and Communication and Multimedia (Technical Standard) Regulations 2000. Failure to comply with the law may also result in fines.
