What is an ISI Certification Scheme | ISI Certification in India | ISI full form
The ISI Certification Scheme, also known as Indian Standards Institute, is a certificate scheme administered by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) as part of BIS certification. This scheme confirms that a product meets the BIS standards, ensuring its safety and credibility.

The ISI certificate grants permission to use the ISI Mark, which has been the compliance mark for industrial goods since 1955. This mark signifies that the product conforms to the Indian Standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS certificate), ensuring its safety and reliability.

There are over 346 products covered under the ISI certificate, mandating its requirement for manufacturers to produce and sell their products in India.

What is ISI mark?
The ISI mark serves as a symbol of compliance with the BIS standards, affirming that a product has been manufactured according to the guidelines laid out by the BIS.

Body authorised to provide an ISI mark?
The authority to provide the ISI mark lies with BIS, who conduct thorough examinations, evaluations, and document verifications to ensure that manufacturers adhere to the prescribed standards and instructions.

What are the Benefits of ISI Certificate in India?
Legal
Obtaining ISI certification provides legal benefits for manufacturers, allowing them to produce goods that are included in the mandatory list. By acquiring the ISI certificate, manufacturers can avoid potential legal issues, including debarment or fines, which may arise from non-compliance with the requirement of ISI certification for mandatory products.

Market Advantages
Obtaining the ISI certificate offers market advantages by providing an edge over uncertified products. It allows for uninterrupted and seamless production of goods, without facing any challenges. Moreover, the ISI certificate serves as verification that your products have been manufactured in accordance with the prescribed standards, ensuring safety and quality.

Competitive Advantage
Having ISI certification gives manufacturers a competitive advantage due to the outstanding quality associated with certified products. Consumers have a preference for certified products, knowing that they meet stringent quality standards. On the other hand, uncertified products may experience initial sales success, but their lack of quality ultimately disappoints consumers, impacting revenue. In contrast, an ISI-certified product sets manufacturers apart from competitors by delivering a high-quality offering, resulting in the potential for increased revenue and market success.

Market Access
Having a certified product enables greater market access due to its superior quality and adherence to safety standards, ensuring consumer security.

A product bearing the ISI mark inspires trust and credibility, leading to increased demand compared to uncertified products. This expanded trust and credibility grant manufacturers wider market access.

The main goals of ISI certification are to improve customer satisfaction and enhance customer goodwill.

  1. It aims to reduce resource wastage and minimize production costs.
  2. ISI certification ensures the delivery of high-quality products to consumers.
