Introduction to CB Certification

The CB system is a global mutual recognition system established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IECEE). At present, 80 certification bodies from 53 countries participate in this mutual recognition system. The member states and member institutions of this organization are expanding. After a company obtains a CB certificate from one of the certification bodies, it can be easily converted into a certificate of another institution, thereby obtaining an entry permit to enter the relevant national market.

The CB system is based on international IEC standards. If the national standards of some member states are not fully consistent with the IEC standards, national differences are allowed, but they should be announced to other members. The CB system uses the CB test certificate to verify that the product sample has successfully passed the appropriate tests and complies with the relevant IEC requirements and the requirements of the Member State concerned. The main goal of the CB system is to promote international trade by promoting the harmonization of national and international standards and the cooperation of product certification bodies, so that manufacturers are closer to the ideal “one test, multiple applicable” goals.

CB certificate application remarks

• An application for a CB test certificate can be submitted by the applicant to any “certificate/approval” NCB covering the scope of the product.
• The applicant can be either a manufacturer or an entity that is authorized to represent the manufacturer.
• An application can include one or more factories that produce products in one or more countries.
• Applicants can request NCB to test products based on country differences in the country of sale.
• The manufacturer’s product certification for the target market includes the following programs:

  An application submitted to the NCB of the target country;

  CB test certificate;

  CB test report (can include country differences);
  Product samples are provided to the NCB of the target market when required. The purpose of the sample was to verify that the product was consistent with the original NCB test product and that it had covered national differences.

CB certificate benefits

1. Can convert foreign certificates
   If you have obtained a CB test certificate and a CB test report, you can directly apply for a certificate from another country. The certification body of the applicant country will review the CB test certificate and report (including the report on the country’s differences) (a small sample is required if necessary), and if the result of the review is satisfactory, you can obtain the country’s certification without being followed. Additional testing is carried out in the charter and program rules of the applicant country.
2. Can convert Chinese national certificate
   According to the CB test report and the difference test, the China National Product Certification Report is issued, so that China’s electrical product compulsory or other voluntary certification is obtained.
3. Directly recognized or approved by other countries
   With CB test certificates and CB test reports, your products can be exported directly to certain countries.
4. Save money and time
   If a domestic enterprise applies for a CB test certificate before applying for foreign certification, since the test is conducted in the domestic CB test laboratory, not only the cost is saved, but also the turnaround time for sample delivery and file delivery is saved. Domestic companies can obtain CB test certificates as soon as possible;
5. Increase the grasp of product trials
   If the company has obtained the CB test certificate, all or most of the CB test results are approved when applying for certification in other countries, and the re-sampling test can be waived or reduced, which also saves time and cost; more importantly, the product for certification I have done CB testing in China, which increases the grasp of the product through the difference test.

Document requirements for CB certification

Applicant submits relevant company and product information

Written application: You should request a written inspection of your company’s products.

Company Information: Provide detailed and accurate names, addresses, contacts, zip codes, telephone numbers and faxes in the following units in both Chinese and English.

1. Application company: a company that submits product testing applications and is responsible for all engineering service fees
2. Listed companies: Companies whose names are listed in various product catalogs published
3. Production plant: The manufacturer and producer of the product.

Product Information: Product information should be provided in English. First determine if your product is part of the test.

1. Product Name: Provide the full name of the product.
2. Product model: List all the product models, varieties or classification numbers that need to be tested.
3. The intended use of the product: for example: home, office, factory, coal mine, ship, etc.
4. Parts list: List the parts and models (classification numbers), the rating, and the name of the manufacturer that make up the product. For insulating materials, please provide the name of the raw material, for example: GE Polycarbonate, Lexan Type 104. When the component has been certified, please prove the specific model of the component and indicate its certification unit and certificate number.
5. Electrical properties: For electronic and electrical products. Provide electrical schematic (circuit diagram), electrical performance table.
6. Structure diagram: For most products, it is necessary to provide a structural drawing or explosion diagram, ingredient list, etc. of the product.
